Things are moving forward and next chapter of restauration project has been finally started.
I will introduce a new specification of the new motor soon.
My incar stock ver 4 engine is still in the car and running OK. This will be replaced by newly build engine I hope before spring 2021.

My spare ver 4 block has been closed. And based on this closed block new engine will be build up.
Will keep follow-up for you dear members :)

Dears
Intercooler is always the first eyecatcher while you look at turbo subarus underbonnet.
Unfortunatelly to find a sterile, fresh v4 intercooler is mission impossible those days.
Therefore decided to go for new Process West.
New motor require an adequate good neighbourhood.

For me it’s the best choice out of ready made solutions. I was wondering if it’s compatible with front strut brace. It seems to occupy all the space.

Guys
A lot of items for our gc8 disapearing from the market.
Some years ago I ordered a set of rubber seals for a doors, weather strips etc. They were available and resonable priced. Today its not possible to get them anymore. Or prices went up dramatically.

In few years from now people will quote prices for used parts similar to new price yesterday.

So business wise its not a bad idea to replace parts by new in your car and in few year sell used parts for the same money.

So its overall the last call to improve gc8 by new parts. Now or perheps never.

Therefore again some shopping made.
Once all items arrives I will show them off here.

On top of that H&S resonator pipe ordered. I'm getting too old for raw a-group pipe.
This should calm down it a bit.hs resonator.png

Sadly I disagree; a few years from now hard to get parts will cost many times more than previously new parts!
Supply and demand. I’ve seen it happen to absurd levels in Sierra Cosworth parts. OEM parts turning up unused in original wrappers are selling for ridiculous money...

Yep, that how it goes.
An example based on my historical order. The same shop, the same parts.
2018 vs 2020. I made the comparison for type R parts. This comparison was made in 2020, so today might look even more different.

Price per new piece:
- door seal - 2018 - 70GBP / 2020 - 250GBP (discountinued)
- body seal - 2018 - 85GBP / 2020 - 310 GBP (discountined)
- door weather strip - 2018 - 63 GBP / 2020 - 130GBP
- mirror gusset - 2018 55GBP / 2020 not availiable

So implementing new seals on doors and mirror gussets in 2018 was 550GBP (both sides) in 2020 was 1490 GBP and most parts were already not availiable anymore.
