Not really that surprising. Manufacturers only commit to 10 years supply. Whatever was made has lasted another 16 years. This is why pattern parts exist. :)

It's interesting looking at people's pictures as the ones I have sourced from Subaru Japan are a lovely smooth quality leather. UK sellers seem (in my opinion) to be an inferior quality leather finish. I don't know why this is.

That's strange why the material is different if it is the same part number.

This got me paranoid!
I've had mine for a good few years but never opened the box. Japan supplied also.

So I purchased 35022AC030 and it is almost exactly the same as the STS025500180.

The plastic connector is black instead of white (which does not really matter as that gets hidden) and it actually weighs more that the STS025500180. I actually prefer the weight/feel of it over the STS025500180.
All it needs is to switch out the stitching to red and it would be pretty indistinguishable. Once I switch out the stitching then I will have two "STS025500180" ;)

Mostly just wanted to try it out for others see and make their own decision.

edit: Although looking at mine, seems like I have a "mid-grade leather" one. Not as bad as the pic @53R posted but not as good as the pic @type-ra posted.

I'm curious how much your weighs @type-ra, time for me to bust out the scale :wondering:

That's the one in my SF5 before I swapped it out for a red stitched one :)
