how to use the DCCD

I had to have a Kaaz 1.5 installed in my old WRX RA. The one thing I didn't realize is that they need running in as soon as possible after installation. You'd have to check with Alyn on your proposed one but I had to find a nice large flat piece of tarmac, do a gentle launch fast enough to knock it into neutral and quickly do a figure of eight until the car came to a stop. I can't remember how long I had to do this but it was at least half and hour.

Long enough to attract the attentions of an angry local who though I was yet another idiot trying to do donuts ! He wasn't having any of my explanation so I left having just about done the required routine. All a bit embarrassing.

The running in was followed by another oil change using the obligatory Kaaz product.

The knocking on tight turns during low speed manoeuvres calms down a bit with use.

The oil change interval was quite short too . I'm struggling to remember but 1800 miles may have been the number. Again using their product. @benji

The mind boggles.

You dont need to run it in, just drive the thing.

If you are generating enough waste material to need an oil change that regularly in normal use then its a pile of shit.

I was just following the Owners manual John. Not being technically minded that's all I could do !

Is that their general advice or for prior to a drift competition where they are trying to maximise lock?

If it's general, then it's absurd or the product is questionable. Just driving on the road as normal will bed in a plated diff, every single curve in the road generates enough slip to take off any high spots in very little time.

As to service intervals, that's nuts, are you sure you are reading the info correctly or is this something someone told you?

The sti clutch pack says to do a figure of 8 for 30mins to break in too so what Arthur is saying isnt far off no, it's prob like you say to make them comp ready instant, as there's no way a new car leaves the factory with a diffs having done figure of 8s

The Kaaz break-in procedure is listed as 30mins of figure of 8's. With 3500 - 5500mile oil changes.
The kaaz super Q wpc version diff is listed as no break-in required.

The owners manual went with the car when I it in 2019, so I'm unable to double check. The KAAZ was fitted in 2016 in a R160. I've managed find that the oil change interval was 3000km. I was straight off to a track day at Blyton soon after the bedding in by the way.
