Thanks to our incredibly annoying import laws, those of us in the US have to wait until non-USDM cars are 25 years old to legally import them. Thankfully, we're now at the 25th anniversary of October 1992 so the JDM WRXs will start to trickle in. With that in mind I've been watching the auctions for the past couple years, trying to determine what market there might be and what kind of car I might be able to score. My goal was to get the earliest car I could afford (that wasn't a total pile of rust), preferably an RA but at least a WRX. Well, a decent-to-nice MY93 WRX RA turned out to be difficult to obtain, as the only one I saw in the past several months went for a pretty penny, so I went with a standard WRX.

I got this WRX (GC8-003600), a December 1992 production date, in July and have been trying my best to be patient ever since. It's got a couple issues but I'll get it cleaned up, throw a couple of fun parts on it, and enjoy it for a while. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited and happy to finally have an actual JDM Impreza to share with the forum. Pics to follow:

My first Impreza was a black 93 WRX...bloody loved it...it was my first journey into AWD and turbocharging :)
I see yours has ABS and someone has fitted STI lateral arms, also
the condition of the interior looks great :)
As much as you may want to keep it relatively standard...the 2pot brakes are fecking awful but I guess you know that already.

Paul, I noticed the lateral links and was wondering if they're really STi or if they're just pink. Also, I've got a list of a few basic mods that I've already got ready to go on the car when it arrives (I hope to pick it up December 1st, and there's a big car show on December 3rd so those mods will be done as quickly as possible). Among those mods are the front 4 pot brakes, an exhaust, OEM "S201" mirrors, and some Technomagnesio 201 wheels.

they could very well just be painted pink but the stickers on them are ones that you get with genuine STI arms...such as mine :) STI arms (2).JPG

    That's awesome,enjoy your RA,mate!
It'll be easy to tell if the lats and trailing arms are real when you get the car...just bare in mind that with the age of the car the spherical bearings could be completely shagged,by now.
I bought some used STI trailing arms a couple years ago and the spherical bearings literally fell apart in my hands.
Cop the plastic blob that came out of it.
I paid NZ$300 for them, but the seller refunded my money and didn't want them back, either.
They make great cheater bars for 1/2" ratchets.
I know of a vendor in Japan who can get the trailing arms and laterals for a fraction of the price, direct from Subaru.
P/M me if you want his details.

I'll use UK currency here, since this is a UK based site.
OK,so,there's a UK based shop that charges £1200 for a set of STI lateral links.
    STI swaybar links included.
They advertise on eBay,I'm not going to name them, but 99% of you will know who I'm talking about.:lipssealed:
I paid £260 for my lateral links,STI swaybar links included, plus £30 for shipping by air that took 2 weeks to arrive from Japan to New Zealand.
I was ready for Customs to ping me,but they went right through, no charge.:D
I also ordered a pair of STI trailing arms-that cost me £141,plus £30 shipping, they arrived in 2 weeks, and once again, they slipped right through Customs with no charge.
Check out my rear end restoration on the Impreza Restorations thread to see them-every product I used, apart from the Whiteline parts and the Subaru replacement fasteners came from this shop.
    http://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum/threads/my-v5-ra-v-ltd-no-461-rear-end-restoration.26875/
Excellent customer service, super easy to deal with.
Got a blue centre console for my RA Ltd. for £30.
    STI Grp. N bushes,strut tops etc,too.
They stock Cusco products and silly cheap prices, too.
Beatrush rear subframe braces for £25.
Just ordered one of those (before 500 Type RA.com members clean them out!).
    The shop is JapanParts.
    https://www.japanparts.com
The only thing you need to beware of is that they won't charge you until the parts you order arrive from Subaru at their warehouse, but you still need to have enough money to pay for what you order, when you order it.
The reason I was asking people to P/M me for the details is I didn't want every man and his dog to jump on it and order a zillion products, fearing that the prices would go up,stock levels would plummet, orders would take way longer etc.
Basically I didn't want my super cheap source of parts to get burned down.
Maybe the admins can think of a better place to post this info,so everyone can take advantage.

Japanparts is very common, so no problem there. I thought you had found some little almost backdoor store.
